Dr Marion Matheson is passionate about providing comprehensive and integrated care to older people. 

 

She is a geriatrician with a special interest in oncology and peri-operative medicine: helping patients through their journeys with breast cancer surgery & treatments. She works alongside Dr Shaw, Dr Sood and other members of the Northern Beaches Hospital’s breast cancer multidisciplinary team, both in the outpatient clinic and on the hospital wards. 

 

Dr Matheson studied medicine at the University of Bristol, UK but then came home to Sydney to complete her medical & later geriatric training across different Sydney hospitals, predominantly in the Northern Beaches & lower North Shore. Living and training locally, she is well placed to refer and guide patients to our local community services. 

 

Dr Matheson also has a general interest in healthy ageing including falls prevention, managing frailty and safely deprescribing (stopping!) medications. 

 

Outside of being a geriatrician, Dr Matheson is kept busy by her young family.
